Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr in On and on Bronze - Review + Swatches!

Hello everyone! Today I'm here to tell you about one of my everyday products, Maybelline's Color Tattoo in On and on Bronze!

I bought this pretty much a year ago and I took the pictures when I bought it, so the difference now is that it has a big dent in it, however I'm not even half way through! I don't know when the "you need to throw this out now" date is but I'm going to keep using it until there's some indication that it's went dodgy/past it's deadline date! Also, if someone could let me know how to work out when to throw a product out please let me know!

Anyway, Maybelline released the Color Tattoo 24 Hr cream eyeshadows I think at the end of 2011 for the US and sometime in 2012 for UK. They were part of the Eyestudio line with lots of other shades, variating from neutrals to bright, intense colours; there are currently 12 color tattoos for sale in the UK. They claim to wear for 24 hours, now, I don't know who wears their make-up for 24 hours at a time and I don't know who could stand having the same make-up on their face for 24 hours straight.. So who knows if they do, I doubt it very much. Also, they claim to be crease proof and to be extremely pigmented with a smooth gel-cream formula.. Lets see if they live up to the claims!

The packaging is actually quite good for £4.99 - it comes in a little sleek glass pot with a screwable lid; similar to the Mac Paint Pots in this sense. The packaging is lovely for the price, just make sure to keep the lid tightly screwed on to prevent the product drying out or the lid coming off and product going everywhere! It's also small and compact so it's great to store and it's not an awkward shape, again making it easy to store. 

This was when I just bought it - now it has a big dent in it (eek!)

In the pot it looks like a bronzy shimmery brown with golden undertones that could easily go over the lid as base or in the crease of your eye, again as a base or just on it's own overall. 

As you can see from the top swatch (I have no idea what the other one is, it looks like a concealer.. Ignore the bottom one anyway!) it comes out pretty much as it looks, except for me it was a lot more metallic than I was expecting, however that's not a bad thing, just a little surprise I suppose! 

As Maybelline claims, it does come off extremely pigmented, and one dab with your finger can cover one eyelid, so a little goes a long way. It is also very creamy and gel-like and the texture is smooth, making it easy to dab onto your eyelids and blend out with your finger or a brush. Now, I have very oily eyelids as it is so I bought this to use it as a base or on it's own, and as a base for other eyeshadows it works very well, it doesn't make my eyeshadows crease for at least 10 hours, and on it's own I've seen them go 12 hours on my eyes with a little bit of creasing, however it was nothing major - basically it lasts all day!

There is a lot of product in the pot (4g I think) at £4.99 compared to Mac's Paint Pot, at £15 with only 1g more product! Maybelline definitely wins that time Mac! 

Overall, this does wear extremely well on the lids, it is very pigmented and a beautiful everyday colour that can be built up to become a smokey metallic eye, easy to apply, blends well with your fingers or a brush and pretty much crease-proof, even with the oiliest of eyelids.. However, saying that, it's not crease-proof for 24 hours, maybe 10-12 max for me due to having insanely oily eyelids, but for people who don't, maybe it'll last longer for you! Basically, for £4.99, this is a high end low end product (if that makes sense!) and if you have been wanting to get one for a while, get one now! Get several! Just buy them all if you want..

FOTD - Autumn is Coming - 01/09/13

Hello everyone! I don't know why I say everyone because you are reading this and you are not everyone.. Hello *insert name here!*.. Anywaaaay..

Today's post is a FOTD, as I was going out for lunch with a friend to a semi-fancy restaurant and after being at the gym and quickly having a shower and shoving my hair in a side braid, I needed a little pick me up to make me look half decent!

For this look I went really natural on the eyes, only using my base cream eyeshadows that I wear most days no matter what and winged black eyeliner. I knew I wanted to wear a bright red lip as I haven't for a while so I had to wear the classic winged black eyeliner eye with it, how could I not, it's practically tradition! Also, I always wear my trusty powder to control those oils!

Night Out Look #1 - Burgundy Glam - 25/08/13

Hi everyone! Long time no see, to be honest I forgot to blog due to being so busy! The last time I blogged was in April when I was just starting to study for my final University exams (which I passed with merit!!) and then I was on holiday twice this summer (to New York and Azerbaijan - will do separate blog posts of pictures soon) so now I'm back :) I don't know what my schedule will be but I know I want to blog as I honestly miss it, I still read new blogs every day and have done even though I haven't been posting, so I decided I want to post at least a couple of posts a week, I should manage that when I'm at University too, as I go back on the 23rd of September and have a couple of days off a week to catch up on my work.

Anyway, I'll do a proper catch up blog post soon, but for now I'm going to show you my make-up and outfit from a night out last week! Also, these photos were taken from my iPhone 5 so sorry they are not the best quality, will take photos from my proper camera from now on (or when I can).

As you can see I went quite dark for this night out as on a regular basis I don't wear a lot of make-up and I usually go for very subtle looks, so I thought why not? Sometimes dressing up and wearing a lot of make-up is a good thing, and this look really boosted my confidence for the night!

This burgundy dress (I'm a size 12 in this dress and I'm 5 ft 11 just in case you want to buy it and don't know what size you are) is from boohoo.com and I think it was £12, which is a bargain! I love this website so much and I don't have a bad thing to say about it, the clothes are lovely and they have so much choice. I paired my dress with black heels from Dorothy Perkins, and I kept the accessories to a minimal, only wearing a simple gold necklace (Forever 21) that you can see in the first two photos, as my make-up was so bold that I wanted everything else to be very subtle and simple. I also curled my hair as my dress is very tight and simple, so I thought curled hair would look better than straight hair.

Maybelline Eyeshadow Quad in Coral Drama - Review + Swatches!

So Superdrug had a 2 for £10 on all Maybelline products.. Guess who got sucked in on this offer.. Not me.. Just kidding, course I was, you know I love offers! I am honestly going to end up with no money if all these offers continue, however I feel I'm going to be shopping in Boots a lot more for make-up as I get 4 points per £1 I spend compared to only 1 point per £1 in Superdrug.. But there is a Superdrug 5 minutes away from me, whereas Boots is a bus ride away.. LIFE IS SO DIFFICULT!

Anyway, onto the product. I bought this Maybelline Eye Studio Silky Glam Quad in Coral Drama. I picked this one up particularly because of the red and gold colours, I felt like it was quite a unique quad compared to either a neutral quad or a smokey eye quad.

The packaging is pretty nice, it is quite small though and for £7.19 I feel like you pay more for the packaging than for the actual product. I quite like the design of the lid and how it comes in to the middle, giving it a indentation which is different to a plain case. It comes with an applicator so you can easily reapply on the go.

As you can see, the colours you get are all very shimmery and metallic, the colours look pigmented and rich and I just really liked the combination of the colours. You get a light shimmery white colour, with the hint of beige in it, I used this for a highlight on my brow bone and in my inner corner of my eye. The gold shimmery colour I used all over the lid, and put the bright light coral colour at the outer corner of my eye/in the crease. The final dark burgundy colour I used on the outer corner.

However, when I first used this product I was really disappointed. It seemed like when I put it on my lid, it stayed on fine, but when I put another colour on top the original colour disappeared, along with the first colour. I feel like you definitely need a eye primer or a base eyeshadow or something underneath this eyeshadow to make it stay on the lid. I ended up using MUA's Eyeshadow in Matte as a base as I don't have a eye primer yet, which is at the top of my to do list to buy!

With a primer, the eyeshadows stay on reasonably well. I personally don't think the colours blend well together, I feel like when I put the light coral shade in the crease it just kind of disappeared into the gold. I have only used them all once though, so I may do an updated blogpost on this product once I know more about it, but this is my first impression.

As you can see on my arm they look beautiful, they are extremely shimmery and I really do want to love these eyeshadows. I'm not saying this product isn't good, I'm just saying it isn't as good as I thought it would be. I will be working with it, trying new ways to apply it and seeing what it's like with a proper eye primer perhaps, when I eventually get one.

If you don't have really oily eyelids like me then this quad might give you no trouble at all, but for me personally, it just isn't doing me justice quite yet. I will do an up-to-date blogpost on this when I use it more and will let you know my final verdict, but don't let me put you off buying this, if you think it looks amazing then go for it, I think it does but it just didn't pay off as nicely on the lids as it does in the pan/on my arm.

Benefit's Big Beautiful Eye Kit - Review + Swatches!

Today I am going to be reviewing an old faithful of mine - Benefit's Big Beautiful Eyes contour kit! I have used this kit for so long and absolutely love it, you can go full out and create a smokey eye or make it a lovely everyday, easily wearable look for a normal day.

As you can see mine is a little bit messy as I have used this a lot previously (and this is after I cleaned it, it was so mucky before with fingerprints and eyeshadow and concealer everywhere!) The first thing I like about this kit is the little leaflet it comes with, it basically shows you how and where to use the products you are given, which I think is super handy for people just starting to get into make-up. As you can see you are given a concealer, and 3 eyeshadows. I hardy use the concealer as it is too dark for my skin, so instead I use Benefit's Erase Paste in fair (blog post coming soon) but it is still a lovely bonus.

The first colour is a shimmery light pink, which is beautiful on the lid, application is so easy, you can just sweep it on and viola, your eyes already look amazing! This combined with the shimmery bronze again can make a lovely everyday look, as I usually sweep the pink colour across the lid and then apply the bronze colour to the outer corner of my lid and blend it into my crease, to give some definition to the eye. It is so subtle but at the same time really makes your eyes stand out more. The final brown colour is by far a billion times more matt than the other two, with a slight shimmer throughout it. I only use this if I want to create a smokey eye and I just put a little bit on the outer corner of my eye again and blend it in.

The pigmentation is great, and this kit will last you a long time. It also comes with two little brushes as well, which go in the little white box at the bottom, but I lost them a long time ago! It's basically two brushes and each end is for each product, which I think is so helpful! 

I have had this for over 6 months now and I still have not hit pan, it has lasted me so well and has become one of my favourite products. It may be a bit expensive, as it is £24.50, but honestly it is definitely worth the price tag in my opinion.

Benefit are slowly becoming one of my favourite brands for make-up, especially high end make-up, I have a lot of their products and I love all of them! I will be saving up my pennies to go back in some day soon.

MUA Eyeshadow in Matt (Shade 16) - Review and Swatches!

Here comes another review! Today, it is MUA's Eyeshadow in Matt (Shade 16) which I picked up a couple of days ago in Superdrug, they were doing a deal where every MUA product was £1! I only bought this though because I was in a rush and just wanted to try something by MUA, but I have the urge to go back and see what they have to offer.. Must.. Resist..

Anyway! Let's discuss the more important thing, which is this eyeshadow. I chose this one out of the selection available because I was looking for a really plain, matt skin tone/light pink colour, as my eyes are naturally quite red because they are extremely sensitive and are blotchy/dry most of the time, so I wanted something to tone this down.

First of all, for £1, the packaging is okay! It is sealable, and quite compact so it's easy to store. The container is plastic, but, for £1, would you expect anymore?

When I initially swatched this, I was surprised by how dusty and powdery the eyeshadow is, and also how light pink it is! I mean, I know it clearly looks light pink in the pan, but on my finger it is close to white! I have applied this to my eye and it is great as a base for further eyeshadows, as I used this first, then applied some more shimmery, slightly brighter (but still subtle) eyeshadows from Benefit and Topshop, and the other eyeshadows stayed on well and had something to cling onto! 

As you can see from the picture below, it turns out almost white on the skin, which I don't mind, as when I applied this to my eyelid I packed it on so the colour showed up more clearly. I would say this eyeshadow is good as a base and also okay on it's own if you just want a very natural, matte eye (you will have to blend it into your skin though as I find without blending it, it looks a bit odd and a bit too dusty.)

Overall, for the price of £1 (bargain!) I would say it was alright. Not the best eyeshadow in the entire world, I wasn't expecting it to be, but I will be using this as a base for more natural eyeshadow looks as I find it works well as a base, or just on it's own if I don't want to wear a lot of make-up. However, a warning to you, the fall out is quite excessive so you have to be careful when applying this as it does get a little bit messy so make sure to tap any excess off the brush before applying, but once you have cleaned up the eye and blended it it looks fine.

I am thinking of going back into Superdrug though, as I really do want to try out their famous Heaven and Earth palette and also the Pretty Pastels one, I've just been checking out the Superdrug website and the MUA website and both palettes have a lot of colours that I would wear. Furthermore, because of the £1 deal and the fact I've checked out what Superdrug have in this offer, I've been drawn into wanting to buy some blush and lipsticks.. Man I am a sucker for offers! Collective Haul - Reviews and Swatches!

Guess who got sucked into various offers, for example 3 for 2 on Maybelline?! Oh wait, that was me.. I am such a sucker for good offers! Anyway, the past week I have been shopping a lot, both with my family and on my own, and I have been picking up a lot of make-up for me recently, I feel I have turned a new leaf and am now starting to experiment and step into the make-up world, finally!

The first thing(s) I should mention.. Aren't exactly make-up, but they are nail polishes;

Left; Chica Boom Boom (H&M) (£3)

Right; Parma Violet (Topshop) (£5)

Chica Boom Boom is actually a bright neon orange, my camera is not giving the colour justice. I've wanted a bright orange nail polish for what seems like a very long time, I don't actually have an orange nail polish at all, and since it's summer I thought why not? I also got a bit of a tan this year (this is surprising yes, I hardly ever get a tan, I am horribly pale) so I feel like the bright neon orange won't look as drastic against my skin.

Dazzle is not actually for me, it is for my friend Leanne, as it is her 18th next week (I know she won't see this so it's fine) and since her favourite colours seem to be purple and gold, when I saw this in Topshop it was like a blessing! It's the most beautiful dark purple, but not super dark, just.. Oh you can see it in the picture! Anyway, it has gold glitter through the purple, which I'm sure she will love!

Parma Violet is again a nail polish for me, and again, I have wanted a violet nail varnish for SO LONG! All the purple nail polishes I have are either super dark or kind of.. Medium tone? Does that even make sense? Probably not.. But when I saw this colour I knew I had to buy it, it just looks the most gorgeous pastel light violet colour I've seen (that was A LOT of words to describe a colour) and it had to be mine. Onto make-up now..

Smokey Eye Palette from Topshop - Tawny. (£12)

I love the fact it comes with a little "how to" booklet; for people who are inexperienced with make-up, it really does help them out. Good job Topshop!

From right to left: The first colour is a pink, champagne colour, it is very shimmery and I would use this as an everyday colour, just to sweep it all over the lid and give my eyes a base/some shimmer. The second colour is a shimmery bronze, which is my personal favourite out of the 4. It looks SO NICE on the lid, you can use this to line your upper lash line and also take it down to the lower lashline and I think it would compliment everyone. The third colour is again a lovely eyeshadow, I love how it is brown but it has gold shimmer throughout it, it looks lovely through the crease and gives your eyes definition. The final dark shimmery brown really makes the eyes smokey, as using this in the outer corner and blending will really make you look sex-aaaay!

So, as you can probably tell.. I got some eyeshadow from Topshop! I got the Smokey Eye Palette in Tawny, and there was another one but it was darker and more grey/purple toned, I'm sure that was called Smouldering. The shadows are quite shimmery which I like, and they all compliment each other beautifully; the reason I got Tawny was because the bronzy colours look nicer to me, and I think they actually will look nicer on me, I feel because I'm pale it will work better? Correct me if I am wrong though! But yes, I love the colours, especially the bronze colour, (the one on my middle finger in the photo.)

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr - 05 Enternal Gold. (£4.99)

Also, congrats to Maybelline on the packaging - I love it! It's so sturdy and looks so fancy and elegant, I love the little glass pot loads!

I saw this yesterday in Superdrug (when I got sucked in with the 3 for 2 offer), and there was only one or two left, and I knew I had to get it; it is the most shimmery, creamy eyeshadow I have ever put on my eyelid (now, I haven't put a lot on so I think this is good, however, other people may think differently). I really do love this colour, I think with a liquid black liner (coming up soon!) and red lips, it will look perfect, it's an easy everyday eyeshadow that you can just whack on, but at the same time you can dress it up too.

Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner - Black. (£5.99)

I can see why Maybelline called it "Master Precise", with this bad boy of a felt tip, even the shakiest of hands could manage a straight line

What really drew me to this product was, not only did I really need to buy a liquid liner, but the fact that it was a felt tip liner, making it a billion times easier to put on. I even tried it out last night to see if it really did make a difference, and holy moly, my liner was close to perfect first time! I was so impressed with this product, application is easy, and the blackness of the liner is pretty good also, hopefully it doesn't dry up quick or anything, but so far, fingers crossed!

Topshop Kohl Eyeliner - Saddle. (£4)

Ever since watching the beauty girls and guys on YouTube I have desperately wanted a brown eyeliner for so long! Whenever they use one I always think "Holy moly, black eyeliner is so harsh compared to the subtleness of a brown eyeliner, why do I not have one?!" and whilst I was in Topshop a couple of days ago, I saw a brown eyeliner and thought why not? I may as well give it a go! And I LOVE it! It is very build-able, it starts off very subtle, so it would be nice on the waterline but on the top lashes you can build it up so it is an obvious brown line, but still subtle compared to a black eyeliner I think!

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick - 422 Coral Tonic. (£7.19)

Again, I loooove the packaging! It is such a classy lipstick, with the shiny see-through red lid and the simple but elegant silver packaging, it makes it look like it's worth more than you paid for - a good quality to have!

The last (but certainly not least) make-up shopping splurge was to this gorgeous coral lipstick by Maybelline. I had been looking for a coral lipstick for a while, as I only have a red lipstick and I was kind of getting bored of wearing the same lipstick over and over again, and although there probably isn't as much difference between the lipsticks as I had originally wanted there to be, it is less bold than the red one and it makes a change, which I like. It is again, build-able, you can put it on lightly but you can certainly build it up to make it as bold as any red lipstick would be.

I also then bought a pair of jeans and a t-shirt from Topshop;

So cute! Aaaaah!

Love the "wrapped up" detail at the sleeves, it just makes the t-shirt for me.

I have been obsessed with moustaches and anything moustachical recently, from necklaces to now a t-shirt! I was actually leaving Topshop after buying the jeans below and continued shopping, but I had to go back and buy it, I couldn't resist! It is such a cute top and you can pair it with anything, from jeans and a blazer (to spruce things up) or wear it casual with a skirt.

Topshop MOTO Super Soft Skinny Leigh Jeans in Indigo - £38

One of the reasons I fell in love with these jeans is this ankle detail, I love this look right now and have been doing this to jeans which don't already have this detail, I think it just instantly changes the style of your outfit and makes it a bit more classy.

Finally.. The jeans! I absolutely adore these jeans and I am so glad I bought them, as you can tell by the title they are seriously SO super soft, which I love. I have been obsessed with jeggings for the past year and have been wearing the same 3 pairs constantly, and they have done their time; one has two holes near the crotch and I cannot let them go! I really wanted a new pair of jeans, but jeans for me are usually not as comfy and they don't stretch as easily as jeggings, but these jeans proved me wrong! They are easy to put on, extremely comfortable, go with anything and everything and are so soft, it's like I am wearing jeggings - good buy!
