Job Interview - I Need Advice - Please Help!

Hello everyone! Today is a bit of a oh-no-please-help-me-I-need-advice kinda post.. Can you tell by my face this is how I feel? This morning I found out I have a job interview tomorrow for the opening of a new restaurant in my town.. There's one in the town next to mine and I go in often, so I do know it well.

The problem is, my nerves take complete control when I go into a situation like this. I physically shake, my face is permanently red and my voice goes high pitched for every second word I speak. I've never had a successful interview to this date and I'm praying tomorrow will be different - I have had a job before, I just didn't get an interview for it luckily.

So, this job is for an Italian restaurant and I just need some last minute advice on how to compose myself and how to basically pass an interview! I do know roughly what to say if they ask anything however any advice would be lovely and very much appreciated!

Thank you if you comment, it really means the world. Have a lovely day, and don't stop smiling. :)

Hannah, xx

    1. Thank you, I did this quite a lot haha! I talk in general way too much when I get nervous so I made a mental note to keep breathing and think before I speak xxx

  4. Good luck with the interview! Just take a deep breath before each answer. They expect you to be nervous and allow you to have a little think before giving your answers. Before going in to the interview just keep telling yourself you can do this and keep calm.

  5. Good luck with your interview. Remember that you are you, and the person who knows you best is yourself. There are no wrong answers to questions. If you have already worked before it shows that you are dedicated (not sure for how long you've worked and what kind of job?), you know what working is like. Just show your true personality, there is nothing wrong with being who you are. They probably just want to know if you would fit into the team, would do whatever is requested from you, your motivation etc. You will be fine ;) Let us know how it went!

  8. mind over matter is always how I go into an interview! The more confident you can come across the better. Always Smile, and keep your body language open.... if you go in smiling, even if you are nervous you will find whoever is interviewing you smiling back and that always relaxes me!! Good luck!

  10. Don't be nervous! Just remember, the person interviewing you is human, too. They know you're nervous and they just want to make sure you're a good, qualified person (which I'm sure you are!). You will do great. Good luck!

  13. Hi! Firstly good luck.
My main tip is to remember that you've been called in to interview. (that sounds obvious and stupid right?), basically they know you can do the job, the interview is to see if you fit culturally, so it's as much as you interviewing them too!
Smile, ask them how they are, tell them you're a little nervous from the outset, make jokes, bounce off their questions and come prepared with some of your own great questions like 'if I started tomorrow, what would be priority number 1'. As a freelancer I interview quite frequently, so feel free to email me if you want any tips :) claire@24hoursfromhome.com
